I resti della cometa Elenin
Scoperta il 10 dicembre 2010 dall'astronomo dilettante Leonid Elenin, la cometa battezzata con il suo nome, nota tecnicamente come C/2010 X1, si è quasi disintegrata dopo essere stata colpita da un'eiezione coronale di massa il 19 agosto 2011. Si deve a un gruppo di astrofili italiani il successivo avvistamento dei deboli resti della cometa.
